Man in custody for allegedly stabbing girlfriend

Benson Mwaniki, a 22-year-old man is in police custody following a horrific incident on Kirichwa Road, Kilimani, where he allegedly stabbed his former girlfriend to death on Thursday evening.

The victim and the suspect were both employees of the same money-lending firm.

According to colleagues, the woman had just returned to work on May 14 after a weeks-long absence.

Despite a workplace meeting held earlier that day to resolve their personal differences, the suspect reportedly arrived at the office armed with a knife.

As the deceased walked home with friends toward Argwings Kodhek after work, the suspect trailed her.

In a brutal attack, he stabbed her multiple times. Witnesses say the victim attempted to seek help at a nearby clinic but collapsed and succumbed to her injuries at the entrance.

Kilimani Police Boss Patricia Yegon clarified that the man was unharmed, discarding earlier information that the suspect attempted suicide.

“The blood stains on him were from the victim,” Yegon stated, confirming he has been found fit to stand trial after a medical evaluation.
