Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a 33-year-old man behind a series of inflammatory social media posts that security agencies warn are a direct threat to national stability.
The suspect, identified as Evans Onyango Kawala, popularly known by his online alias Kidero Jasuba, was intercepted following a crackdown on hate speech and digital incitement.
Kawala’s run came to an end at the Shujaa Mall area in Kayole, Nairobi.
The operation was executed by a specialized team of detectives drawn from the elite Operations Support Unit (OSU), who had been tracking the suspect after his content went viral across multiple digital platforms.
According to investigators, Kawala’s recent public utterances and viral videos crossed the line from free speech into criminal behavior. Security agencies flagged his content as: highly inciteful to the public, a severe threat to peaceful community cohesion and a formulated to deliberately trigger national instability.
The suspect is currently being held at an undisclosed location undergoing processing by the OSU team.
Detectives are finalizing the case file before officially arraigning him in court to face charges related to incitement to violence and hate speech.
