Several people are feared dead following a grisly accident involving a passenger matatu and a trailer at Chimoi Bridge along the Eldoret–Webuye highway.

According to witnesses, the North Rift Shuttle Nissan, which was heading towards Kaburengu, collided head-on with the trailer, which overturned and came to rest on top of the matatu.

Several passengers are believed to be trapped inside the mangled wreckage as emergency responders continue rescue and evacuation efforts at the scene.

The stretch between Lwandeti and Kaburengu has long been regarded as one of the major accident black spots along the busy Eldoret–Webuye highway.
