A cloud of grief has engulfed Thika High School in Kiambu County after a 15-year-old Grade 10 student died following an altercation with a classmate.
The fatal incident occurred on Friday at around 10pm, just after evening preps when the student body had gathered for routine evening prayers.
According to police reports filed by the school’s administration, a physical fight broke out between two Grade 10 students, causing one of the teenagers to collapse heavily onto the floor.
Responding to the scene, school officials found the victim lying unconscious in a second-floor classroom.
The school nurse quickly administered first aid at the institutional dispensary before rushing the teenager to Thika Level 5 Hospital for emergency specialized treatment.
Medical officials pronounced the boy dead on arrival.

The deceased student’s body has since been transferred to the General Kago Mortuary pending a comprehensive postmortem examination.
His 15-year-old classmate was immediately arrested and placed in police custody as detectives piece together the moments leading up to the scuffle, while the victim’s devastated parents have come forward to demand swift justice.
