Migori manhunts launched: police track two suspects in fatal Kuria West land dispute and Ntimaru murder

Police in Migori County have launched twin manhunts following two separate homicides that occurred over the weekend in Kuria West and Ntimaru sub-counties.

In the first incident in Kuria West, 26-year-old Charles Mogore Gimonge was fatally injured on Friday during a dispute over grazing land.

Gimonge was reportedly tending to his cattle on his farm when an unidentified herder drove his livestock onto the property.

A confrontation ensued after Gimonge instructed the man to leave, leading the suspect to pick up a stone and strike Gimonge on the head.

The victim was rushed to BNM Hospital in Isebania but succumbed to his head injuries on Saturday.

The suspect fled the scene immediately after the assault and remains at large.

Gimonge’s body was transferred to the St Akidiva Hospital Mortuary in Mabera pending a post-mortem examination as detectives prepare to revisit the scene.

In Ntimaru Sub-County, detectives are hunting a 60-year-old man accused of beating his 35-year-old wife, Consolata Mbusiro, to death on Saturday morning following a domestic dispute at their home in the Makonge area.

Officers responding to the scene found Mbusiro’s body with severe injuries across her body.

Preliminary investigations indicate the suspect used a wooden club to repeatedly assault her before fleeing the scene prior to police arrival.

Police recovered the blood-stained wooden club as evidence, and Mbusiro’s body was taken to the Wima Mortuary in Kegonga for autopsy while search efforts for the suspect intensify.
