Two of East Africa’s most decorated football dynasties collide tonight at Kigali’s Amahoro Stadium as Kenyan powerhouses Gor Mahia take on host nation giants APR FC in the opening fixture of the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup.

Kicking off at 7pm, the Group A showdown is more than just an opening-day fixture, it is a high-stakes test of ambition for two three-time regional champions eager to prove their continental credentials.

Alongside Gor Mahia and APR FC, the pool features Ugandan champions Vipers SC and Djibouti debutants Garde Républicaine.

For Gor Mahia, the 2026 tournament marks a crucial opportunity for redemption.

After missing out on the 2025 edition and suffering an early group-stage exit in 2024, K’Ogalo enter the tournament backed by a wave of high-profile transfer window signings.

Despite their storied domestic legacy, the Kenyan champions have not lifted the Kagame Cup trophy since 1985.
