Law enforcement agencies across Kenya have intensified their crackdown on drug trafficking, seizing millions of shillings worth of cannabis sativa and arresting multiple suspects in targeted operations.

In Nandi Central Sub-County, officers from Kaimosi Police Station ambushed and intercepted a sky-blue Mazda CX-5 along the Chavakali-Kapsabet Road following a tip-off.

A search of the abandoned vehicle revealed seven sacks of cannabis weighing 271.3 kilograms, with an estimated street value of Sh13.4 million.

The driver and a passenger fled the scene on foot and remain at large.

Meanwhile, at Ngariga Junction along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway in Kiambu County, a joint team from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) and the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU) intercepted a public service vehicle.

Detectives arrested 32-year-old Francis Oteba after discovering five bales of hidden cannabis in his luggage.

In a separate operation in Kisii County, ANU detectives arrested three suspects, Nancy Moraa, Phylis Matundura Mogaka, and Andrew Makokha Cheng’oli, found in possession of 10 kilograms of cannabis and Sh63,335 in suspected drug proceeds.
