From the US to JKIA: nurse faces arrest after disowning child and defying court order

An Magistrate Court sitting in Eldoret has issued an arrest and extradition warrant for US-based nurse Noah Kibet Mutai over contempt of court charges in a bitter child support dispute with his ex-wife, Nancy Jemutai Samoei.

Senior Principal Magistrate Cheronoh Kesse ordered the OCS at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to detain Mutai upon his arrival in Kenya.

The directive stems from Mutai’s failure to comply with a July 2024 court order mandating he pay Ksh 20,000 monthly for his three-year-old daughter’s care.

The couple married in December 2020 and had a child in August 2023.

Samoei, who relocated to her parents’ home in Kapseret after Mutai secretly moved to the US, accused him of abandoning his parental duties.

Mutai attempted to disown the child, but a court-sanctioned DNA test confirmed his paternity.

Though Mutai rejected the results as doctored and requested a fresh test during a brief return to Kenya, he subsequently flew back to the US, leaving Samoei to shoulder the financial burden alone.
