Kenya’s middle-distance contingent signaled clear intent at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, with Teresia Gateri, Naomi Korir, and Rosemary Longisa all booking their spots in Saturday’s highly anticipated women’s one-mile final at Scotstoun Stadium.

Leading the charge was 2021 World Under-20 champion Teresia Gateri, who put on a tactical clinic to storm to victory in a stacked Heat One.

Gateri powered across the line in 4:33.11, holding off home favorite Jessica Hull of Great Britain, who finished second in 4:34.20.

The momentum continued in Heat Two, where former World Mixed Relay silver medalist Naomi Korir and NCAA 1,500m champion Rosemary Longisa delivered composed performances.

Korir secured fourth place in 4:31.80, closely followed by Longisa in fifth at 4:32.02. Both times comfortably sealed their passage to the medal race.

All eyes now turn to Scotstoun Stadium this Saturday as the Kenyan trio aims to sweep the podium in what promises to be an explosive final.
