Nominated Senator Crystal Asige has lamented her removal from the lucrative Senate Committee on Roads, Transport & Housing, terming the move as punishment by the house leadership.
In a statement posted on her X platform, the lawmaker expressed her disappointment, emphasizing that the committee was vital to her advocacy work for inclusive urban development and disability rights across the country.
“They removed me from the Senate Committee on Roads, Transport & Housing where I champion inclusive transport and mobility, sustainable cities, and accessibility in the built environment for the rights of over eight million persons with disabilities as provided for in the PWD Act of 2025,” Asige stated.
Defending her legislative track record, the nominated senator reiterated her commitment to her parliamentary duties despite the physical challenges she faces daily.
“Everyday, I come to this house diligently to do my job, to execute the business of those I was brought here to represent, and I do it well even with a disability,” she wrote.
Despite the setback, Asige remained defiant about her political future and her mission in the Senate, concluding her message on a hopeful note.
“If this is punishment by the leadership, so be it, but one thing that people ought to know is that God has a knack for turning a bad situation into a glorious occasion!”
