Police clamp down on crime: major arrests made in Kilifi, Kisumu, and Siaya counties

Law enforcement officers across Kenya have intensified operations against organized crime, netting multiple suspects and recovering illegal drugs, stolen property, and weapons in three separate incidents in Kilifi, Kisumu, and Siaya counties.

In Kilifi County, officers from Mariakani Police Station intercepted two suspected drug traffickers following a coordinated operation in the Njoro area of Mariakani Township.

Police officers intercepted a motorcycle transporting narcotics, resulting in the immediate arrest of Ali Mbaji, alias “Mkadinali,” and Rashid Mustafa, alias “Malalo.”

Upon searching the suspects, officers recovered 59 and 25 large rolls of cannabis sativa (marijuana) respectively, bringing the total haul to 84 large rolls.

The two suspects remain in police custody undergoing processing ahead of their court appearance, while the motorcycle and recovered narcotics have been secured as evidence.

Further west in Kisumu East Sub-County, police officers staged an operation aimed at dismantling criminal syndicates linked to a wave of robberies in the area.

The targeted raid led to the arrest of six suspects. During the operation, officers recovered an assortment of suspected stolen items, including electronic equipment, household goods, and various tools believed to be used in house break-ins and robberies.

All six suspects are currently detained at the station pending formal charges, while the recovered property has been processed as exhibits.

In Siaya Township, detectives arrested three individuals suspected of orchestrating a violent robbery against a small-scale gold trader.

According to police reports, the victim was lured to the outskirts of Siaya Township under the pretense of a prospective gold sale.

Upon arrival, the trader was attacked and robbed of cash, personal belongings, and business tools.

Following a formal complaint filed at Siaya Police Station, officers launched a manhunt that led to the arrest of the three suspects.

Police recovered the victim’s stolen mobile phone, a machete, additional mobile phones suspected to be stolen, and the motorcycle used during the ambush.
