The Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) has seven days to decide whether to officially charge lawyer Angela Mulwa and her co-accused Nelson Masiga over the alleged theft of a luxury vehicle tied to the high-profile murder of Dr Victoria Mutiso, or face their unconditional release.
The directive, issued by the Mavoko Law Court, sets a firm deadline for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) to wrap up preliminary investigations into the stolen Range Rover, which was seized from a disputed 21-acre land parcel in Mlolongo previously owned by Dr Mutiso before she was fatally shot on July 29, 2026.
The magistrate warned that if the prosecution fails to prefer formal charges within the seven-day window, the court will unconditionally discharge both suspects and close the miscellaneous file.
In a parallel legal maneuver, co-accused Nelson Masiga has formally petitioned the DPP seeking to turn state witness.
His request remains under review while he completes processing his bond conditions at the Mavoko Police Station.
Meanwhile, Mulwa, who had initially secured release on a Sh 1 million bail, was re-arrested by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) homicide detectives shortly after stepping out of court, directly linking the property dispute and motor vehicle theft to Dr Mutiso’s murder investigation.
