Police arrest three suspects in two separate raids targeting illicit liquor and substances

By OCHIENG CLINTON: Police from Chepalungu arrested three suspects and seized a combined 240 liters of illicit alcohol during coordinated crackdowns across Bomet County, highlighting a relentless push by law enforcement to dismantle illegal brewing networks.

The operations, executed jointly by the National Police Service (NPS) and National Government Administration Officers (NGAO), struck two separate hotspots.

In the first raid, officers from Konoin Police Station teamed up with local NGAO officials from Mogosiek to target a notorious production hub, recovering 150 liters of the illicit brew and taking a key suspect into custody at Konoin Police Station to await arraignment.

Simultaneously, officers stationed at Chepalungu joined forces with NGAO officials from Ariyiet Sub-location to hit another illegal den, seizing an additional 90 liters of the brew and arresting two more individuals.

The suspects are currently being held at Chepalungu Police Station pending court appearances, with the recovered alcohol safely secured as evidence.

The successful raids underscore a broader, unyielding campaign by security agencies to rid local communities of dangerous, unregulated alcohol and protect residents from its harmful impacts.
