Drama unfolded in Central Alego, Siaya Sub-County, after a man flatly refused to accept a dowry payment for his son, who is a member of the LGBTQ community.

What was supposed to be a celebration uniting two male lovers went awry when the patriarch declined to take part in the ceremony. While the mother accepted the payment, the father completely rejected it.

According to an eyewitness who spoke to Kondele Tea, the elderly man ranted and placed curses on the ceremony. The event had been attended by members of the LGBTQ community to witness a traditional Luo marriage ceremony involving two men.

“It turned chaotic. The old man could not take it anymore; in fact, the money the groom wanted to give him was instead taken by his wife,” the source revealed.

“Since when was a man married off instead of a woman? I cannot be part of this. No, not me,” the man reportedly complained.

Despite his strong objections, the ceremony proceeded to its conclusion, and the couple left together.
