Pain as a 21-month old baby falls and dies inside a borehole in Ainabkoi

AINABKOI: A family in Kirinjoni village, Ainabkoi Sub-County, is mourning the loss of their 21-month-old son following an accident on September 14, 2026.

The toddler accidentally fell into a shallow borehole on the property.

Neighbors acted swiftly to retrieve the child and attempted life-saving measures, but tragically, he could not be revived.

Police arrived and moved the body to Plateau Mission Hospital mortuary for an autopsy and opened an inquiry into the incident.

Safeguarding open pits and capping unused boreholes are critical steps in preventing similar household accidents, especially where young children are present.
