Opiyo Wandayi has criticized Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga for his remarks about those who voted for President William Ruto.
Governor Kahiga had earlier suggested that the Deputy President was facing significant mistreatment within the government he helped form.
Mr. Wandayi, however, urged Governor Kahiga to refrain from intimidating Kenyans by exploiting internal conflicts within the ruling party.
“You cannot intimidate Kenyans simply because the UDA is experiencing internal strife,” remarked Mr. Wandayi. “The governor needs to be reminded to exercise restraint.”
He continued, “Preaching entitlement based on voting preferences is unacceptable. Regardless of how individuals cast their votes, all Kenyans are entitled to development.”
Mr. Wandayi challenged Governor Kahiga to consider exempting taxpayers who did not support the Kenya Kwanza government from paying taxes.
“If they seek entitlement, then let those who did not support the government be exempt from taxes, while those who voted for you can continue paying,” he added.
