Danzel Omondi, JKUAT student whose body was found floating buried in Homa Bay

Danzel Omondi, a third-year Quantity Survey student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, was buried today in Rachuonyo, Homa Bay County.

His body was found floating in a quarry, days after he went missing during anti-Finance Bill protests in Nairobi.

The burial was attended by hundreds of students and members of human rights organizations, with many youths vowing to continue demonstrating in his honor.

A post-mortem examination conducted by a government pathologist revealed that Danzel died by drowning.

However, there are suspicions that he may have been killed elsewhere and his body dumped in the quarry, possibly due to his involvement in the recent anti-tax protests.

Mourners called on the Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of Danzel’s death.

James Otieno, Danzel’s father, recounted that he last spoke to his son on the morning of June 27. Later that day, Danzel’s phone went off, which initially did not raise concern. However, James later received distressing calls about his son’s disappearance.
