Body of high school teacher found in River Yala buried in Nakuru

KURESOI SOUTH: Nicholas Kipkorir Ngetich, 29, whose body was retrieved from River Yala, was buried today at his home in Kuresoi South Sub-county, Nakuru County.

Mr. Ngetich went missing on August 10, and his body was recovered from River Yala on August 27. He had been teaching at Emalindi Girls in Kakamega County until his demise.

Friends and relatives learned of his death after recognizing his clothing in a video of a body being retrieved from the river. They then went to Siaya County Referral Mortuary, where they positively identified the body.

According to human rights activist Joshua Otieno, the post-mortem results indicated that Mr. Ngetich was killed elsewhere before his body was dumped into the river.

While addressing the press at Siaya mortuary, Mr. Cornelius Chumba, a teacher at Emalindi Girls, said they had searched extensively before the video of the Yala body surfaced online.

“We had no clue where he might have gone. He traveled that day from Nakuru to Kakamega, where he worked. We found his phone, wallet, and bag within the compound. This indicates that he might have been abducted and killed before his body was dumped,” he explained.
