The absence of Babu Owino during the impeachment motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua did not go unnoticed, leading many to wonder where the lawmaker was during such a pivotal moment.
This rare occasion saw both the government and opposition unite for a common cause.
The second-term Embakasi legislator took to his Facebook page to explain his absence while the Deputy President faced lawmakers.
“How can I waste my precious whole day discussing Rigathi when we have serious issues like Adani, the new university funding model, SHIF, the high cost of living, high taxation, and unemployment?” he posted.
In his post, he added, “You’ll see me in Parliament when these issues are presented, but they rarely bring them up. I was highly engaged with other important and urgent matters affecting my constituents. The speed with which Rigathi was impeached should match the urgency needed to tackle Kenyans’ challenges.”
