A man has been slapped with a life sentence after he was found guilty of defiling a 6-year-old child.

In a case handled by Principal Prosecution Counsel Getrude Kiilu and prosecution Counsel Hilda Jebet, a Kandara court Sentenced Timothy Mwaura to life imprisonment.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) said that the convict was charged with defilement on December 23, 2020 and after a full hearing, the court found that the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that Timothy indeed committed the crime.

Principal Magistrate Eva Wambugu noted that Timothy took away the minor’s innocence at a tender age of only six years.

The court also noted that the victim was left with psychological scars and that the accused was not remorseful even in his mitigation.
