In his final will, the late CDF Gen Francis Ogola left clear instructions for his burial: a simple ceremony within 72 hours, without a casket. Despite the tragic circumstances of his passing in an ill-fated military chopper, his family is committed to fulfilling his wishes.

Gen Ogola will be laid to rest at his home in Masumbi village on April 21. The burial ceremony, as outlined by the KDF, will take place at Senator Barack Obama Primary School before his body is interred at his designated resting place.

Originally, the family had planned to celebrate the 100th birthday of patriarch Joel Oketch on April 20. However, out of respect for Gen Ogola’s final request, the family has chosen to prioritize his simple send-off.

According to Gen Ogola’s brother, Canon Hezekiah Oduor, the late general desired a humble ceremony conducted within a short timeframe and ideally without a casket. His wish will be honored as his remains are wrapped and laid to rest as instructed.

General Ogola was one of the ten individuals aboard a military helicopter that tragically crashed while en route from a visit to troops combating cattle rustling in West Pokot. Despite his plans to attend family events over the weekend, his sudden demise has left loved ones in shock.

As the family and community come to terms with this unexpected loss, they unite in honoring Gen Ogola’s memory and fulfilling his final wishes. Amidst the sorrow, his legacy of service and humility will endure, guiding those who knew him in the days ahead.
