THINDIGUA: The call came in, reporting a gang stealing a gate from a construction site in Thindigua, Kiambu County. It seemed like a routine case, but for one police inspector, it would end in a shocking and painful accident.

As the officer gave chase, he attempted to draw his Ceska pistol from his waist. In the heat of the moment, his finger slipped and accidentally found its way to the trigger. A loud bang echoed through the air as the gun discharged, sending a bullet tearing into his left thigh.

The inspector immediately fell, severely injured. He was rushed to the hospital and admitted for surgery to remove the lodged bullet.

But even as their colleague lay wounded, other officers from the team did not give up. They continued the pursuit, successfully cornering the suspects and recovering the stolen gate. The suspects are now in police custody and are scheduled to be arraigned in court on Monday to face charges.

This incident, while a testament to the dangers police officers face, also highlights the dedication of a team that didn’t let a major setback stop them from getting the job done.
