An accidental gunshot at the Bungoma Law Court yesterday resulted in minor injuries to five people, including a police officer, a prison officer, and three civilians.
The incident occurred around 10:50 a.m. when Constable Cornellious Murey of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) accidentally fired his Ceska pistol.
The bullet ricocheted, causing minor injuries.
All of the injured were taken to a medical facility and are reported to be in fair condition.
The DCI has confirmed it is working with the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) and the Judiciary to investigate the circumstances of the shooting.
The DCI also stated that appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
