Young Turks for The Handshake Alliance (YOTHA), a defunct youth movement that was formed to support the union between former President Uhuru Kenyatta and the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has returned to haunt Jaoko Oburu.
The outfit, which was meant to champion the political alliance (known as “The Handshake”), was championed by Jaoko, who is now serving as an adviser to President William Ruto.
Youths who were part of YOTHA have recently emerged with strong claims that Jaoko committed significant injustice against them during the alliance’s existence.
The allegations of being “used and dumped” surface just days after Jaoko embarked on a high-profile journey to the Wanga Kingdom, where he met with the current Wanga King and elders.
Current Political Positioning
Jaoko has not yet officially declared his main political intention, nor has he expressed interest in any specific seat for the 2027 General Election.
However, strong speculation suggests he may be positioning himself to contest the Bondo parliamentary seat.
Earlier this week, following his visit to the Wanga Kingdom, Jaoko has been addressing sizable crowds at different Bunge La Wananchi gatherings, delivering a message of promised better leadership.
Currently, Jaoko is one of President Ruto’s advisers, a position he secured after the formation of the Broad Based Government (often referred to as the ‘Handshake’ government).
