Kenyan Uber Driver Shot Dead in the US; Family Seeks Help for Repatriation

A family in Kenya is grieving the death of their relative, Fredrick Kiprono, who was tragically shot in the United States while working as an Uber driver.

Kiprono had just picked up a client when sudden gunshots erupted, killing him instantly. His passenger was reported to be unharmed, raising immediate speculation regarding the assailant’s motive.

Details on the ongoing investigation were made available:

“Frederick Kiprono was carrying 18-year-old passenger Tatum Ashley when gunfire erupted without warning,” read part of the report.

The report further indicated the challenging nature of the probe:

“Investigators believe the shots came either from another moving vehicle or from a concealed roadside position near East Preston Avenue, though the exact origin remains under active investigation.”

Back home, the family of the deceased, a dedicated Kenyan who left home to improve the lives of his parents and siblings, is distraught. They now face the difficult and costly process of repatriating Frederick’s body for burial (interment) in Kenya.

Appeal for Repatriation Funds

The family is appealing for prayers and solidarity, and has set up multiple avenues for financial assistance to cover the expenses.
