‘Heshima Idumu’, DP Kindiki tells Gachagua

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has sparked a political conversation after calling on leaders and Kenyans to accord him the respect due to his office as the Second-in-Command.

Prof. Kindiki spoke during an extensive tour of Meru County, where he attended the induction ceremony of Rev David Mwiti as the new Bishop of the Kaaga Synod of the Methodist Church in Kenya.

Addressing recent political friction, the Deputy President hit back at his predecessor, Rigathi Gachagua, urging him to cease public attacks and respect the current administration.

Kindiki contrasted their respective political records, noting that Gachagua served only one term as a Member of Parliament before his tenure as Deputy President ended in impeachment.

“Let us just have respect for each other. Those who occupied offices before us and are now out should understand that we have a responsibility, and they should allow us to execute what we are mandated to do,” Prof. Kindiki stated.

Hours later, the Deputy President reinforced his message on social media, posting a concise statement to his Facebook account: “Tuheshimiane, hio tu” (Let us respect one another, that’s all).
