President William Ruto has launched a series of high impact development projects on the second day of his tour of Busia County.
The President headlined the day by breaking ground for a modern 10,000-seater stadium at the Agricultural Training Centre (ATC).
Valued at Sh900 million, the facility is slated for completion by December 2026.
“We are committed to nurturing youth talent and advancing sports development across Kenya. This county has produced great athletes, and we are determined to identify, develop, and elevate the potential of our young people,” President Ruto stated.
To bolster regional trade and connectivity, the President also commissioned the construction of the 15-kilometre Matayos–Nangina and Nangina–Sio Port–Mumbaka roads.
The Sh773 million project is expected to ease transport and open up new economic corridors for local markets.

During an inspection of the Nangina Affordable Housing Project in Funyula, the President assured residents that legal hurdles delaying the work have been resolved.
He confirmed that the units are now on track for completion within the next six months.
“This is part of our broader plan to transform the country through affordable housing and improved living standards,” he noted.
Turning to healthcare, the President revealed a partnership with Governor Paul Otuoma’s administration to expand the Busia County Referral Hospital.
The national government has allocated Sh400 million toward the expansion and to address the persistent shortage of essential drugs.
“We want our people to access quality and reliable healthcare services. Strengthening our hospitals is a key priority,” the President added.
In a move to brighten rural livelihoods, the government has set aside Sh1.4 billion to connect at least 15,000 households to the national grid.
Additionally, President Ruto announced that Busia will benefit from the newly established Infrastructure Development Fund, which will facilitate the expansion of the Busia–Kisumu road into a dual carriageway.
The tour also touched on the education sector in Teso North, where the President laid the foundation stone for a 340-bed capacity hostel and social centre at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) – Teso Campus.
The Sh133.4 million project is part of a larger Sh2.5 billion investment in modern hostels across the county, designed to accommodate up to 6,500 students.
To wrap up the day’s activities, the President officially opened the Amagoro ESP Market, constructed at a cost of Sh70 million.
The modern facility aims to provide a dignified environment for small-scale traders to grow their businesses.
“This is a true reflection of the government’s broader development agenda aimed at transforming livelihoods, creating opportunities for the youth, and strengthening key sectors of the economy in Busia County,” the President concluded.
