Detectives in Naivasha have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of the body of 58-year-old Joseph Njuguna, three days after he was reported missing.
Njuguna had been reported missing on July 15 at the Longonot police post before his body was discovered on Saturday hidden inside pumice harvesting caves in Ereri village.
Officers visiting the scene established that the deceased had sustained deep vertical cut wounds to his throat inflicted by a sharp object.
Crime scene investigators processed the location before transferring the body to the Naivasha Sub-County Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination, as police work to establish the motive and track down those responsible.
In a separate incident in Kiambu County, police in Ruiru are investigating the death of a 50-year-old casual construction laborer identified as Karanja.
His lifeless body was discovered in his rented apartment at Neema Oasis in the Mutonya area. Responding officers found him lying motionless on his bed with no visible external injuries.
His body was moved to the Nairobi City Mortuary pending an autopsy to establish the cause of death.
