Detectives in Homa Bay are carrying out investigation following the brutal killing of a 44-year-old man whose body was found with severe head injuries in Rachuonyo East Sub-County.
The deceased, identified as Steven Njira, was discovered lying face down in Ongoro village, Kojwach Kamuga sublocation, after the incident was formally reported to the Ringa Police Station on Monday morning.
Officers from Ringa Police Station, joined by homicide detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Rachuonyo East, visited and processed the crime scene.
Detectives established that the victim sustained two deep cut wounds to the head alongside visible bruises across his back.
Police processed and documented the scene but were unable to recover the murder weapon.
According to preliminary investigations, Njira, who was reportedly a habitual drinker, was last seen alive by his wife at around 8:00 p.m. on Sunday.
The victim’s wife told investigators that she discovered his lifeless body outside at approximately 5:00am on Monday and immediately raised the alarm to neighbors and authorities.
The body was subsequently transferred to the Rachuonyo South Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination to establish the precise cause of death.
Detectives noted that the motive behind the fatal attack remains unknown, and active inquiries are ongoing to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
