Governor Ayacko comforts ex-governor Okoth Obado after High Court conviction

Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko has expressed deep sadness following the conviction of his predecessor, former Governor Okoth Obado, along with Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero, in connection with the tragic murder of Sharon Otieno.

In a solemn official statement, Governor Ayacko described the verdict as a painful moment for the entire nation, emphasizing the grief still borne by Sharon’s family after her life was abruptly cut short in 2018.

Rather than focusing on political rivalries or legal rhetoric, Governor Ayacko took a deeply human approach to the High Court’s ruling.

He acknowledged the dual weight of the tragedy, recognizing the long-awaited closure for the victim’s family while extending compassion to the loved ones of the convicted men.

“This is a painful moment for all of us, especially for the family of Sharon, whose life was cut short under circumstances that shocked our nation. It is also a deeply difficult time for the families of the accused, who must now confront the weight of this judgment and its consequences.”

Governor Ayacko called for peace and strength as the community processes the court’s decision:

He prayed for comfort, grace, and enduring strength as the family of Sharon continue to live with the irreplaceable loss of their daughter.

The county boss further asked for fortitude for the families of Okoth Obado, Michael Oyamo, and Caspal Obiero as they navigate the grave legal consequences facing their loved ones.
