AFC Leopards have continued their aggressive squad overhaul ahead of the 2026/27 FKF Premier League season after completing the signing of goalkeeper Sebastian Wekesa from Kariobangi Sharks.
The 12-time Kenyan champions confirmed the arrival of the highly rated shot-stopper through their official social media channels, welcoming the Kenya international as a major addition to the squad.
“We are thrilled to announce the signing of Sebastian Wekesa. The Kenyan international goalkeeper, renowned for his sharp reflexes, commanding presence and fearless saves, joins us from FKF Premier League side Kariobangi Sharks. Welcome to AFC Leopards SC, Sebastian,” the club announced.
Wekesa has penned a two-year contract at Ingwe and is expected to provide top-tier competition and international experience between the posts as the club prepares for the new campaign.
Among the best goalkeepers in Kenya
Wekesa has steadily built a reputation as one of the most reliable goalkeepers in the domestic top flight.
After showcasing his consistency during spells with Soy United and APS Bomet, his standout performances at Kariobangi Sharks earned him a call-up to the national team setup.
His profile grew significantly after earning a spot in the Harambee Stars CHAN squad, where his commanding presence and composure on the international stage further validated his status as one of the country’s top goalkeepers.
Wekesa’s arrival is the cornerstone of a comprehensive restructuring of AFC Leopards’ goalkeeping department.
He becomes the club’s third goalkeeping recruitment of the current transfer window, joining Isaa Emuria from Bidco United and Tom Ikara Ugandan outfit BUL FC.
With three high-caliber goalkeepers now in the fold, head coach and the technical bench have created intense competition for the starting spot under the crossbars.
The recruitment spree at the Den extends well beyond the goalmouth.
AFC Leopards have actively reinforced every line of their squad to assemble a group capable of contending across all competitions, key acquisitions during the current window include: Taddeo Lwanga a skilled Ugandan midfielder signed from Vipers SC, Eric Balecho who will reinforce and add depth to attack and Robinson Msungu.
