Dho Goye Bridge which President Ruto commissioned to be built, has collapsed.

Bondo: The Dho Goye Bridge, connecting Usenge and Got Agulu, has collapsed, causing significant disruption in the region. Promised by President William Ruto to be constructed and completed within six months, the bridge succumbed to the pressure from the backflow of Lake Victoria.

This vital infrastructure link connects the Usenge mainland with Got Agulu Island, which spans Siaya and Busia Counties. Its collapse not only impedes movement but also severely restricts business activities between the mainland and the island.

Siaya Governor James Orengo, during a visit to flood victims last week, urged the national government to take action regarding the contractor responsible for the bridge’s construction. He emphasized that the floods resulted from the backflow of Lake Victoria and highlighted the importance of the national government’s intervention, especially given that the bridge’s construction was inaugurated by the president himself.
