Police officers based at Bondeni Police Station in Nakuru East Sub-County arrested three notorious criminals yesterday, 20 September 2026, following a coordinated operation and a high-speed pursuit.

The operation was launched after members of the public raised distress calls reporting a gang of three armed men on a motorcycle terrorising and robbing residents within the Manyani and Kivumbini estates.

Responding officers pursued the suspects through the area in a lengthy chase before successfully intercepting and apprehending all three within Manyani Estate. During the arrest, police recovered weapons and the motorcycle used in the commission of the crimes.

All three suspects were escorted to Bondeni Police Station and placed in custody, pending processing and arraignment in court.

Sh7.2 million bhang haul recovered after highway accident

In a separate incident, police officers from Nakuru Central Police Station recovered bhang worth an estimated Sh7.2 million after an SUV transporting the illicit consignment was involved in a road accident along the Nakuru–Nairobi Highway, between Shinners Boys and the Mbaruk area.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a Mazda CX-5, registration number KDW 640U, was travelling from Nakuru towards Nairobi when the driver attempted to overtake, lost control, and collided with an oncoming Scania trailer. The impact caused the SUV to spin and sustain extensive damage to its front section.

The driver abandoned the wreckage and fled the scene, leaving behind cargo that would soon expose a drug trafficking operation. During scene processing, officers discovered six sacks of bhang inside the Mazda CX-5. The narcotics weighed 241.5 kilogrammes, with an estimated street value of Sh7,245,000.

The exhibits have since been secured, with detectives from the National Anti-Narcotics Investigations Bureau (NANIB) in Nakuru taking over investigations. A manhunt has been launched for the suspect, who remains at large.
