John Kiarie, Dagoreti South MP, apologizes to the public over his remarks

Dagoreti South Member of Parliament John Kiarie, also known as KJ, issued a public apology today to the general public, especially to members of Gen Z, regarding his recent remarks on the protests.

On his social media handle, the lawmaker expressed regret for his statements, acknowledging that they were unwarranted.

“I TRULY APOLOGISE for the comments I made regarding the protests and the authenticity of certain images. In the heat of the moment during the debate on the finance bill, my words were unnecessary, misguided and insensitive,” he stated.

He further posted a picture of a handwritten apology letter.

Following his remarks questioning the authenticity of protest images, Kiarie has faced widespread ridicule both online and in public forums.

Over the weekend, a confrontation occurred where a youth snatched his microphone during an address to a crowd.

Attempts to speak were met with jeers and boos, leading to his retreat in embarrassment.

Earlier in parliament, Kiarie, citing his background as a professional video and photo editor, had cast doubt on the veracity of images circulating from the protests.

“Those images have been downloaded from the internet, and as a professional graphic editor, I can say the images are not authentic,” he had asserted.
