Maragua Residents Protest Over Rising Insecurity After Child’s Murder

MARAGUA: Angry residents of Maragua town, Murang’a County, took to the streets in protest following the gruesome murder of a three-year-old girl, whose body was discovered near Githanja River.

The child was reportedly defiled and killed by an unknown assailant, sparking outrage and demands for swift investigations.

The child went missing while playing outside her family’s rented house. Her mother, upon realizing her absence, raised the alarm, prompting neighbors to search for her.

Tragically, her lifeless body was found on Monday inside a water well near the river. Bloodstained clothes and visible injuries on the body pointed to a brutal assault.

Locals expressed growing fears over the rising cases of defilement, theft, and violence in the area. They questioned police patrol efficiency, demanding immediate action to bring the perpetrator to justice.

Authorities have launched investigations into the incident as pressure mounts on security agencies to enhance safety measures in the town.
