UGUNJA: A domestic dispute has ended in a horrific double murder and suicide attempt in Rambra village, Ugunja sub-county.

A 40-year-old boda boda rider allegedly killed his pregnant wife and their three-year-old child before trying to take his own life.

The tragedy came to light on Monday evening when the suspect’s father reported the matter to police.

According to Assistant Chief Stephen Ndonj, police and family members rushed to the home of David Otieno Hamba.

Inside the house, they found a grim scene: the bodies of Hamba’s wife and child. The child had a deep wound to the back of the head, and the wife appeared to have been hit on the head.

Hamba himself was found unconscious, having apparently ingested poison in an attempted suicide. He was rushed to Sigomre Sub-County Hospital for treatment.

The bodies of the wife and child were taken to Ambira Sub-County Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the fatal incident, which followed a domestic dispute the previous night.

The Assistant Chief urged residents to seek peaceful ways to solve conflicts, a somber plea in the wake of the shocking murders.
