A member of the street family was burnt to death in Mowlem area in Nairobi.

The deceased was identified as Richard Wanjiru, 33, who was sheltering in a house when it caught fire in the early hours of Sunday.

The cause of the fire had not been established by Monday. Police moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Meanwhile, in Kehancha, Migori county, a man and his 10-year-old daughter were shot and injured during a robbery attack.

Police said the two had arrived home on Saturday evening after closing their shop in the Kwiriba area when they were confronted by armed gang members.

The man was shot in the stomach while the child sustained a gunshot wound to the hand.

The attackers reportedly grabbed three button phones used for M-Pesa transactions before escaping. It was not immediately clear how much money was in the phones at the time of the robbery.
