Police arrest a man recorded attacking a gate man

A coordinated operation by the DCI Regional Headquarters and local police has culminated in the arrest of a notorious robbery suspect, Salim Keya Ngesa, following a brutal attack that was caught on camera.

The investigation was triggered by a viral video showing a chilling scene: two men, one armed with a panga, launching a vicious assault on an unsuspecting watchman before robbing him of his mobile phone.

The footage, which sparked outrage across social media, prompted an immediate manhunt led by detectives from DCI Urban and Tononoka Police Station.

Using forensic leads to track the suspect’s movements, officers eventually cornered Ngesa at a guest house in Bondeni “A.”

The raid turned up a “smoking gun” cache of evidence that directly mirrors the viral footage. Among the recovered items were six assorted mobile phones, two knives, and a blood-stained panga.

Crucially, officers also seized a greyish kanzu, the exact attire the suspect was seen wearing during the recorded assault, further solidifying the case against him.

While Ngesa is currently behind bars undergoing processing for his upcoming arraignment, the case is far from closed.

Detectives have signaled that they are “hot on the heels” of his elusive accomplice, who remains at large.

The arrest serves as a stern warning to criminal elements in the coastal city that the digital trail left by social media footage can, and will, lead directly to the prison gates.
