Protests Rock Huruma After KMTC Student Fatally Shot by Police

The residents of Huruma Ngei I are demanding answers after Sheryl Adhiambo, a 21-year-old first-year student at Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), was shot dead on Saturday night.

Witnesses allege Sheryl was hit by a stray bullet during a chaotic police pursuit while she was at her mother’s shop, a tragic end to a promising young life.

The killing sparked immediate outrage, with running battles between police and residents lasting well into Sunday morning.

The unrest saw three vehicles torched and the local police station vandalized as the community vented its frustration over what they term as “reckless” use of firearms.

As the medical student’s family mourns, the spotlight falls once again on the National Police Service and the urgent need for accountability in residential operations.
