Kisii University has hosted its Third International Multidisciplinary Conference, bringing together global scholars, researchers, and students to hammer out solutions to pressing global challenges.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, Kisii University Vice-Chancellor Nathan Ogechi highlighted that this year’s event heavily focuses on inclusivity and finding bold solutions to global issues—particularly within the health sector.
He explained that modern health challenges extend far beyond clinical medicine, requiring collaborative contributions from education, sociology, business, and health sciences.
“We are dealing with all disciplines that contribute to the health of the globe. It is not only about medicine but also education, sociology, business, and many other fields,” said Prof Ogechi.
Global partners
The Vice-Chancellor noted that the conference has attracted a diverse cohort of participants from across Africa and the rest of the world, including the United States, with researchers presenting their findings both physically and virtually.

A key focus of the ongoing discussions is the evolving role of higher education institutions in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Competency-Based Education (CBE).
According to Prof Ogechi, universities must pivot to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and the practical skills necessary to adapt to rapidly changing technologies.
“AI and technology are here with us. We want students to use available knowledge responsibly and transform it into solutions that bring positive change to society,” he said.
The conference is expected to foster dynamic ideas and build long-term partnerships aimed at addressing global crises through collaborative research and innovation.
