ODM is in government to stay, Junnet Mohamed

Suna East Lawmaker Junet Mohamed has stated that the Orange party will not break its ties with President William Ruto’s administration, while taking sharp aim at impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over tribalism and political chest-thumping.

Speaking during a women’s empowerment event held in Suna West, Migori County, the lawmaker declared that the party’s partnership within the broad-based government is permanent.

He advised the former Deputy President to take his politics of division elsewhere, emphasizing that ODM intends to remain strictly aligned with the Head of State.

He stated

Ol Kalou is just your village

Downplaying the results of a recent parliamentary by-election in Ol Kalou where President Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) suffered a defeat to a faction aligned with Gachagua,Junet told the former DP that the victory was nothing to boast about on a national stage.

He argued that while Ol Kalou may hold political significance for the former DP, a presidential election is decided by voters across Kenya, not in a single constituency.

“Nimeona jana wanasherehekea kwamba wameshinda Ol Kalou. Hata sisi tulishinda Kasipul, tulishinda Ugunja, tulishinda Magarini. Sasa wewe unasherehekea na ulishinda huko kijiji yenu huko Ol Kalou, mahali mjomba yako ndo anaishi, shangazi yako ndo anaishi, mama yako anaishi. Hakuna mtu hana kijiji yake,” Junet said.

William Samoei Ruto,” he stated

Landmark appointment

Junet showered praise on President Ruto for appointing John Mbadi as the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury.

He claimed that the Nyanza region has experienced rapid, visible transformation since Mbadi took control of the exchequer.

According to the legislator, the fruits of the partnership are evident in ongoing road construction, expanded electricity connectivity, and targeted local economic programs.

He took the opportunity to mock critics who initially questioned Mbadi’s appointment, stating that they are now being forced to watch Nyanza prosper from the sidelines.

2027 joint strategy

Addressing internal party affairs, Junet sent a clear message regarding how ODM will manage its political future, emphasizing that the party will internalize its strategy without external interference. He stated that members will organize among themselves to determine who will run for various seats from Member of County Assembly (MCA) and MP, to Senator and Governor.

However, on the presidential front, Junet dropped a major political bombshell regarding the 2027 general election. He revealed that the next government will be formed through a structured, joint alliance between UDA and ODM.

The Minority Leader explicitly declared that ODM will rally its entire machinery to support and vote for William Ruto for a second term. He assured the crowd that the party will ensure Ruto secures the presidency through the strength of the ODM ballot box.

Junet concluded by challenging President Ruto to extend the same campaign giveaways deployed in Ol Kalou such as mattresses, cooking gas cylinders, and boats to Migori County, promising that the region would reward the President handsomely in return.

“Kuna wengine nimeona wanambembelza sasa, ati watoke kwa upinzani, wanapelekewa sijui gas, boat, mattresses,Mimi naomba Rais alete hizo vitu hapa. Junet promised, amid thunderous cheers from the Suna West crowd.
