In response to widespread public concern over motorcycle-riding phone thieves, officers from Muthangari Police Station executed a targeted raid in Kawangware where the operation led to the arrest of two notorious suspects believed to be part of a syndicate.
They mainly target pedestrians and motorists.
During the arrest, police recovered two mobile phones believed to have been snatched shortly before the operation.
The suspects are currently in custody awaiting formal charges, while the recovered handsets were cataloged as evidence.
Elsewhere in a separate operation, officers from Kahawa West Police Station raided several illegal drug and alcohol dens within the Soweto area.
The raid resulted in the seizure and immediate on-site destruction of contraband brewing supplies and equipment: 3,100 liters of Kangara (brewing mash) destroyed, 180 liters of Chang’aa (distilled liquor) confiscated and destroyed and multiple sets of brewing apparatus and distilling units dismantled
