Popular Ohangla and Benga musician Tom Ngaga, better known by his stage name Atomy Sifa, appeared before the Kendu Bay Magistrate Court following allegations surrounding the theft of a bull belonging to Homa Bay County Woman Representative Joyce Osogo (Bensouda).
However, before the court proceedings could fully commence, the lawmaker made an unexpected appeal to the magistrate, requesting that all charges against the artist and his co-accused be dropped immediately.
Addressing the court, Dr Osogo revealed that the stolen livestock had already been recovered and returned to her possession, stating that she no longer wished to pursue legal action against the suspects.
“Your Honor, I want to plead with the court to release the suspect and his co-accused now that I have got my bull back,” Dr Osogo stated during the session.
The alleged theft occurred on Monday, July 27, when unknown individuals broke into the lawmaker’s property.
According to Dr Osogo, the suspects took the livestock along with four sacks of charcoal during the incident.
Family demand justice
The legal drama comes amidst vocal protests from family members and close friends of the veteran musician, who have strongly defended his innocence following his arrest.
Rejecting the allegations, Atomy Sifa’s family maintained that he had no involvement in the theft, labeling the charges a deliberate scheme aimed at smearing his character and ruining his long-standing reputation in the music industry.
“Atomy Sifa is innocent and did not steal any animal. These accusations were part of a calculated attempt to tarnish his name,” a family representative stated, demanding a fair and impartial process to clear the artist’s standing completely.
With the complainant officially withdrawing her case, the court is expected to discharge the singer and his co-accused.

Starting his career as a dancer under the late Princess Jully before establishing his own band, Sifa has remained a prominent figure in Kenya’s regional music scene.
