President William Ruto has launched a scathing attack on opposition leaders campaigning against his second-term bid, claiming they are bankrolled by political sponsors and lack an independent agenda for Kenya.

Speaking during his development tour in Nyanza, the Head of State dismissed the opposition’s political messaging, arguing that their sole focus on making him a “one-term president” exposes a complete lack of policy alternatives for citizens.

“You know our friends in the opposition are sponsored by someone, so they have no ability to see sense in the wonderful things that the Kenya Kwanza administration is doing,” President Ruto told the gathering.

“The problem with being sponsored is that you hardly get a chance to understand things independently because you are playing to the tune of the person who is sponsoring you.”

The President’s remarks follow sustained claims by Kenya Kwanza allies alleging that former President Uhuru Kenyatta is financing and directing opposition campaigns.

Highlighting his administration’s development record across the country, including road networks, digital hub investments, and the Affordable Housing Programme, President Ruto challenged critics to present substantive solutions to national challenges rather than political slogans.

“We have robust plans for this country; we have done a lot and we continue development projects in all parts of the country,” Ruto added. “The opposition has no agenda. When you ask them what they want to do for Kenyans, all they say is ‘One Term.’ Honestly, will one term bring employment? Will it bring better health services to our people? Let’s be serious.”

The President urged residents to reject political rhetoric driven by external handlers and back his development-led agenda ahead of the 2027 General Election.
