Voluntary Firearms Surrender Boosts Baringo Peace Efforts

BARINGO: The National Police Service (NPS) in Baringo County has welcomed the voluntary surrender of three AK-47 rifles by members of the public, marking a positive step in the ongoing peace building efforts in the Kerio Valley region.

The firearms, which were complete with magazines and eight rounds of ammunition, were handed over to the sub-county security team in Kolowa on September 28, 2025.

This successful recovery was facilitated through the cooperation of local peace structures in Kipnai Location.

The surrendered weapons and ammunition have been secured for safe custody.

This initiative is a direct contribution to the disarmament and peacebuilding efforts aimed at restoring lasting security across the volatile region.

The NPS commended the continued support from the community, elders, and peace committees, urging the public to maintain cooperation through information sharing and the voluntary surrender of any remaining illegal firearms.
