Police in Kisumu are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of an unidentified middle-aged woman whose body was discovered early this morning in the Skyway area.
The discovery was initially reported by Village Elder Manyatta A, Tom Opiyo, prompting a swift response from station and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers.
Upon arriving at the scene around 07:00 AM, investigators found the body of the deceased estimated to be approximately 38 years old lying in a supine position in an estate corridor.
Local residents who gathered at the scene stated they did not recognize her.
While a preliminary examination revealed no visible physical injuries on the body, detectives have launched a harrowing line of inquiry.
Initial findings suggest the woman was sexually assaulted elsewhere before being dumped in the corridor, where she was cruelly left struggling until she succumbed.
The crime scene has since been processed by forensic experts, and the body has been moved to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.
Authorities are currently awaiting a post-mortem autopsy and comprehensive forensic analysis to determine the exact cause of death and establish the victim’s identity as they hunt for her attackers.
