Decomposing body of a Kirinyaga University student retrieved from Thiba river.

MWEA: The decomposing body of Lawi Kiptoo, a Third Year Building Engineering student at Kirinyaga University, who drowned in the flooding Thiba River while swimming, has been discovered. Villagers and police had been stationed at the riverbanks in search of the missing student.

Lawi’s body was retrieved by the police at Ngumbatha village in Mwea Constituency and transferred to Kerugoya Referral Hospital mortuary. This tragic incident adds to the toll of lives lost due to the ongoing floods.

Last week, another unidentified body was recovered in West Pokot, further highlighting the impact of the heavy rains. The incessant downpours have also disrupted transportation, rendering many roads impassable.
