Several Injured as Rowdy Youths Disrupt Unity Meeting in Kabunde

Several individuals were injured at Kabunde when a section of rowdy youths stormed a political meeting that was underway.

The event, which began mid-morning, was intended to gather leaders from the Great Nyada-Ralek region to address locals who had converged at the venue.

The meeting was organized specifically to spread a message of unity among the locals and their leaders ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

No sooner had the speeches reached a fever pitch than the youths, reportedly armed with crude weapons, charged into the gathering, forcing people to scatter for safety.

A witness who was part of the meeting recounted the sudden disruption:

“We were listening to our leader address, Julius Nyambok (former MCA, Homa Bay Central), when we saw youths armed with crude weapons charge towards us,” the witness said.

Locals at the venue claim that the area lawmaker may have been responsible for scuttling the event, citing that moments after the disruption, the lawmaker himself addressed the gathering.
