Police Hunt for ‘Person of Interest’ After Decomposed Body Found in Pipeline

NAIROBI: Police have launched a homicide investigation following the discovery of a woman’s decomposed body in a residential house in Nairobi’s Pipeline estate.

The victim, who remains unidentified, was found on Friday, January 2, after neighbors reported a foul odor emanating from a locked house.

Upon gaining entry with the help of police, officers discovered the body lying on the floor next to a bed with a manila string tied tightly around her neck, suggesting she may have been strangled.

Detectives are currently seeking the tenant of the house, a man known to authorities, who has not been seen since the discovery.

While the body was discovered on January 2, authorities believe the victim may have been dead for approximately 48 hours.

The tenant was last seen on December 30 transporting a television set and a woofer.

He reportedly told neighbors he was moving the electronics to his rural home for the New Year festivities.

The suspect remains at large, and his current whereabouts are unknown.

The body has been moved to a Nairobi Funeral Home pending a post-mortem examination to confirm the exact cause of death and to help identify the victim.

Police stated that although a motive has not yet been established, the circumstances point to a targeted killing.
