Chaos as residents of Kuresoi North storm Central Police station demanding release of MP Mutai

Chaos erupted at the Central Police Station today as angry residents from Kuresoi North constituency stormed the facility, demanding the immediate release of their Member of Parliament, Alfred Mutai.

The first-term lawmaker was detained late last night following hours of intensive grilling by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Shouting slogans and carrying placards, the irate constituents blocked sections of the roads leading to the police station, bringing business to a standstill in the immediate vicinity. Police were forced to deploy teargas and erect barricades to keep the surging crowd from breaching the station’s main gates.

“We want our MP released immediately! This is political witch-hunt and we will not leave until he walks out free,” shouted one of the youth leaders leading the protests.

While the DCI has yet to release a formal statement outlining the exact charges or reasons behind Mutai’s overnight detention and hours og grilling, the move comes amidst a highly charged political atmosphere in the country.

The arrest was occasioned by a volatile confrontation at the Sirikwa Umoja grounds in Kuresoi North, Nakuru County, during what was supposed to be a youth and women empowerment forum.

The high-profile event, led by Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika and attended by prominent regional figures like Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi and Bahati MP Irene Njoki, rapidly disintegrated into a warzone.

According to preliminary police reports seen by Kondele News, a chaotic clash erupted when groups of suspected hired goons allied to MP Mutai confronted the Governor’s supporters and security detail.

As the confrontation escalated, gunshots rang out through the crowd, cutting the development program short and sending hundreds of attendees fleeing in a frantic stampede.

At least three victims, Job Kiprono, Mohamed Ali, and Isaac Cheruiyot, sustained severe gunshot wounds to their limbs and were rushed to the Molo Level 4 Hospital for emergency treatment.

Two people succumbed to their injuries
